Undergraduate Research

Educational Experience from Undergraduate research

There is no doubt that undergraduate research provides students with excellent educational experience in addition to learning inside the classroom. Students get to participate in the process of conducting academic research and are trained how to work independently. Plus students may also get an opportunity to work collaboratively with industry leaders and graduate students at other schools. Students may also be sent to professional meetings and attend national conferences, and for those who qualify, summer internships at research labs may also be available
  • "If I were to name the number one thing I remembered from college, it would be the undergraduate research I have done. It has provided me with experiences that helped shape me not just in academics but in the rest of my life as well" (Adam Olson, UWW class 2010, software engineer, IQ Foundry, Madison, WI

  • "Through my undergraduate research experience, I've learned that for really good research, all that you need is a really simple insight that other people didn't think of before you. This opened my eyes to the challenges and rewards of research, and prepared me enough, if I desired, I could pursue being a research scientist myself" Jacob Russell, UWW class 2009, UWM 2011, grad student in Ph.D program at Dartmouth college
