The Problem Solving Competition
This is a mathematics problem solving competition for undergraduates sponsored by the American Society for Mathematics. Each
month there will be a new problem posted. Undergraduate students at the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater may submit
solutions to these problems to Professor Kane, McGraw 109. Each month the student submitting the best solution will be
presented with a certificate. The top problem solver will be invited to travel to MathFest, the summer meeting of the
Mathematical Association of America, to compete in the US National Collegiate Mathematics Championships. Next summer MathFest
will be held August 2-4 in Madison, WI.

Answers are due in Dr. Kane's office (McGraw 109) by noon on Thursday October 6.
